Almería is reputedly the sunniest province in Spain. The landscape is definitely interesting. Very arid, very still. The area around the house is agricultural, mainly olive, fig and almond production.
The nearest town is the market town of Huércal-Overa. About a ten minute drive away. Here are all amenities: banks, supermarkets, clothes shopping, large street market on Monday, cinema (in Spanish!), bars, disco, and a good selection of restaurants.
The nearest beach is at Mojácar, about a 40 minute drive away. Mojácar is a typical Andalucian "white village" on a hilltop by the sea. The beach is clean and not over touristy with some really good beach bars for lunch or to visit in the evening.
Recommended day trips from the house are: Murcia, Almería, Maria, Vélez Blanco, Lorca, Granada, Bedar, Mini-Hollywood etc etc.
There is plenty to do and see!!
